Tailored for youth ages 12 - 24 get ready for a free, fun-filled day at Hayward Executive Airport and experience aviation like never before. Whether you're an aspiring pilot, curious about aviation careers, or simply looking for a unique community event, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Event Highlights
✈️ Air Traffic Control Tower Tours – Go behind the scenes and see how controllers safely manage aircraft arriving and departing from the airport.
🛩️ Flight Simulator Experiences – Take the controls and discover what it's like to fly using our flight simulator.
🔧 Aircraft Maintenance Hangar Tours – Step inside a working maintenance facility and learn how skilled technicians keep aircraft safe and flight-ready.
🛫 Airplane Rides – Experience the thrill of flight and see the Bay Area from a whole new perspective. (Availability may be limited, so register early!)

Along the way, you'll also meet pilots, aviation professionals, and Bay Area Urban Eagles volunteers who are passionate about inspiring the next generation through aviation, aerospace, and STEAM education.

Designed for youth ages 9–17, BAUE Hangar Day is a hands-on aviation and STEAM experience where participants do more than learn about aviation—they experience it.

We meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00–8:00 PM.  Sessions are held at our Palo Alto Airport hangar classroom and the Hayward Airport Terminal.

Have you ever looked at an airplane and wondered what it would take to be the person at the controls?

This is where you start.

Bay Area Urban Eagles Private Pilot Ground School introduces aspiring aviators to the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to take the next step toward earning an FAA Private Pilot Certificate.

✈️ Learn What Pilots Need to Know
Students explore the fundamentals of aviation, including:

Aerodynamics and principles of flight
Aircraft systems and flight instruments
Aviation weather
Navigation and flight planning
Air traffic control and communications
FAA regulations and airspace
Aeronautical decision making and aviation safety
Preparation for the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test

🎮 Go Beyond the Classroom
At BAUE, aviation education is not limited to textbooks. Students have opportunities to connect what they learn in class with flight simulation, aircraft, pilots, aviation professionals, and real-world airport experiences.

SAVE THE DATE: We're excited to share Techs on Decks 2026 will take place Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10 AM to 5 PM aboard the historic USS Hornet in Alameda, CA! Is there a future for you in technology? This question is broader than you might think!

Whether you love gaming, designing, inventing, or helping people, there’s a tech path for you. Explore your interests, try new skills, and discover careers that make a difference—while opening doors to exciting opportunities and big payoffs! On the anniversary of the Apollo 12 Moon mission—when the USS Hornet served as the recovery ship—we are hosting a full-day event for students ages 8 to 18 to explore the promise of technology.
